WeCell (HEC) is a nonionic, water-soluble cellulose-based polymer. Similar to WGCEL Cellulose Gum (sodium carboxymethyl cellulose), it belongs to the family of cellulose ethers; however, unlike CMC, WeCell (HEC) is nonionic, and its aqueous solutions remain stable and unaffected in the presence of metal cations.

WeCell dissolves easily in both cold and hot water. Compared with other water-soluble polymers, its aqueous solutions exhibit distinct rheological characteristics. WeCell can be formulated to deliver a broad range of viscosities, and its solutions are pseudoplastic—meaning their viscosity decreases as shear rate increases.
